Fishing Report, 1-13 Sep- The last 2 weeks were marked with a cooling spell, but by Monday it began to change.
The last 5 days of increasingly warming weather have raised the lake water temp about 8 degrees, and also raised the thermocline in several parts of the lake to the 10-15 ft deep area. It has also spawned areas of warm-water turnover. This pattern has impacted crappie and white bass fishing the most.
Crappie still have that just-after-sunrise bite, and right now we're just after the new moon, so there are reports of afternoon catches. A couple of the crappie guides are trying Lake Tyler and Fork, and are doing better.I've been starting out at dawn for crappie (don't have a Live Scope) then within an hour switching to bait fishing, usually ending up with catfish, mostly small channels but a few 1 1/2 to 4 lb blues, with a couple of hybrid stripers.
