Fishing report, 25 Jul-Ok, about time to wrap up the salt water salmon season for Westport WASH.
Last year and so far this year have been among the very best I have experienced up there, and I've been fishing there since 1994!Last year we fished there twice, 2 days in July and 2 days in August, as is usual, and this year 2 days in July. In those 6 days I caught 61 salmon, of which 26 were kept on the boats as keepers and taken home by fishermen (I normally don't keep the WASH salmon, I get plenty on the Alaska trip, and those are easier to transport).
WASH salmon in the salt are keepers if they are kings 22" or longer, silvers if the are hatchery (clipped fin) and 16 " or longer. Normal daily limit is 2 salmon, one of which can be a king.
I'm about to go on the second trip this summer, leaving on Mon 24 Aug, fishing on 3 one-day trips, Tue-Thu on charter (party) boats. Anyone wishing to go at that time please contact Deep Sea Sportfishing at 360-505-2139. Trips are $253/day, includes bait, tackle, basic fish cleaning, license is $13/day. I will have a rental car there and staying at Holiday Motel. These are great trips, come along!
