Fishing Report, 12-18 Dec
Updated: Fri Dec 22, 2017
Fishing report, 12-18 Dec. The Tyler Bass Club held their annual championship round on Lake Palestine last Saturday, the 16th. Eight of their members were entitled to play in this tournament, a singles event, where they could weigh in a string of up to 5 largemouths. The winner was Vince Alibrando with an astounding 27.42 lbs, a number never seen in December and usually only touched on this lake during the Spring spawn, when the bass are at their heaviest with eggs. He also had the big bass for the tourney, a 6.81 pounder. All Vince would say is that he fished the Kickapoo Creek area, and that the fish were shallow that morning, even though the water temp was around 52 degrees. This was Vince's second 27 plus string in 20 months on Lake Palestine, scoring that total last in March 2016.The Tyler Bass Club is always looking for fishermen interested in a small, local club dedicated to fishing for bass and having a good time, those interested can contact Jody Kea at 903-360-2757.Captions for pics:Larry Lummus, former dentist in Frankston, treated his son Chris to a Christmas present fishing trip on Lake Palestine. They caught crappie and white bass and had "a great time together". Larry lives in Emerald Bay now, and Chris in Longview.A 27 1/2 pound string! Vince Alibrando, Tyler, showing off the bass that won him the 2017 Tyler Bass Club Championship on Saturday.Jim
